“Lest We Forget” Holocaust Remembrance Exhibit

St. John’s Cathedral will open an inter-faith photographic exhibition, called “Lest We Forget,” on Sunday, March 10, to encourage the community to reflect on the horrors of the Holocaust during the season of Lent. The exhibit, which is FREE to the public, includes a collection of powerful images taken by local and world-renowned photographers, including pictures from inside a Nazi concentration camp as well as portraits of Holocaust survivors and the people who risked their lives harboring their persecuted neighbors. St. John’s Cathedral is hosting the exhibit in partnership with Jewish Family & Community Services. Collections featured in “Lest We Forget” include: Black & White Images from the Holocaust | Dan Hadwin
Hadwin is a local photographer and Cathedral member who documented the somber reality of the Holocaust in stark black and white photography. “Survivors” | Ingrid Daminani
Daminani’s photographs from “Survivors” feature images of local Holocaust survivors. Her photos are accompanied by each person’s story of courage, survival and life after the genocide. “Rescuers: Portraits of Moral Courage in the Holocaust” | Gay Block Block’s photographs, in collaboration with writer Malka Drucker, document the ordinary people who Israeli Holocaust Survivor Portraits | Vardi Kahana
This collection includes three large black-and-white portraits by Kahana, an Israeli photographer. The women featured in these images are Holocaust survivors in Israel. These pieces are from a local private collection.“Lest We Forget” will be open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. through April 19 (Good Friday).Exhibition viewers should come to the Church Street side of St. John’s Cathedral (256 E. Church St., 32202) and ring the bell to gain admittance.
