Neil DeGrasse Tyson

Thursday, April 9, 2020, 2:30 AM

Neil DeGrasse Tyson, the director of New York's Hayden Planetarium, has become the popular face of modern astrophysics and has had a large hand in reviving the popularity of science in America. He is a frequent guest on the nighttime talk shows. Tyson earned his B.A. in Physics from Harvard and his Ph.D in Astrophysics from Columbia. Tyson's professional research interests are broad, but include star formation, exploding stars, dwarf galaxies and the structure of our Milky Way. In addition to dozens of professional publications, Tyson has written, and continues to write, for the public. From 1995 to 2005, Tyson was a monthly essayist for Natural Historymagazine under the title "Universe." And among his 10 books are his memoir, "The Sky is Not the Limit: Adventures of an Urban Astrophysicist"; and "Origins: Fourteen Billion Years of Cosmic Evolution," co-written with Donald Goldsmith. "Origins" is the companion book to the 2004 PBS-NOVA mini-series "Origins," in which Tyson served as on-camera host.
