DIY Butterfly Pinning Workshop

Looking to ease into the art of insect pinning? Register to pin and take home your own exotic butterfly! Led by Florida Museum staff, these pinning workshops on Feb. 1 and Feb. 2 from 1 to 3 p.m. will guide attendees through the process of properly pinning and preserving butterflies just like a Museum curator. Participants must be 18 years or older. Participants will be able to: Pin a large exotic Blue Morpho butterfly or Atlas moth specimen and take it home. Get up close to exotic butterfly and moth specimens. Learn what it takes to operate the Butterfly Rainforest exhibit. Peek into the Museum’s world-renowned collection and leave as an expert pinner. Cost: Adults: $35 Museum Members: $30 Registration coming soon! Save the Date on Facebook All materials are provided in this comprehensive workshop. All specimens being pinned died naturally in the Butterfly Rainforest exhibit. What To Expect Event Includes: One large exotic butterfly specimen to pin and take home. One reusable pinning board and insect pins. Individual instruction from the professionals. A behind-the-scenes look at the McGuire Center’s world-renowned butterfly and moth collection.
