10th Annual Jacksonville Backyard BBQ Championships Benefiting Daniel
Join us for an afternoon full of friendly competition and delicious barbecue for a great cause. Dozens of local amateur and professional cooks will face off at the Jacksonville Backyard BBQ Championships on April 6. For the tenth year in a row, the cookout will raise money for the Glyn Cook Memorial Scholarship – a fund that supports formerly homeless Daniel kids who are pursuing higher education The event will feature up to 40 barbeque teams as they compete in three categories – chicken, pork and ribs. Professional teams will be eligible to win a portion of the $5,000 prize and the title of Pro Champion. Celebrity guests will join a panel of certified barbecue judges as they rate the entries on appearance, taste and tenderness. Registration is open for teams until March 25.The event is open to the public and will include barbecue samples, kids’ games and music.
